As a Los Angeles psychologist, Dr. Reger works with people with all kinds of concerns, and each course of individual therapy is unique.  Dr. Reger bases treatments on evidence-supported theories and techniques and collaborates with clients to create a treatment plan that fits their needs and goals.

She believes meaningful change happens first through the formation of a strong therapeutic relationship that provides a safe space for exploration, learning, and healing to occur. With a trusting relationship as the foundation, clients are able to understand the ways in which their history shapes behavior, thoughts, and feelings in the present. This understanding, combined with learning skills and more effective ways to manage life's challenges, can create meaningful change.

Dr. Reger is truly inspired by seeing people in therapy improve self-esteem, become more effective in relationships, cope with grief and stress, live according to their values, and experience life differently.

What will happen in my first Therapy session?

Before your first counseling session, Dr. Reger will send you a few intake forms to fill out, which you will upload electronically.   During your first session, you will go over a form called "Informed Consent" with your counselor.  This is an important part of therapy, as it gives you clear information about the risks and benefits of engaging in psychotherapy, explains confidentiality in psychotherapy, and explains some ways a therapeutic relationship is different from other relationships.

After informed consent, Dr. Reger will do some information gathering. So that you can discuss in greater depth the concerns that bring you to therapy.  This is a chance for you to tell your story and allows her to learn about you so she can create the best treatment plan for you.  This portion of counseling typically extends into the second or third session as well.

And after that?

After the informed consent and information gathering period, you will begin the serious work of therapy, in which you will focus on the goals you established during the first few sessions.  There is no set number of sessions for psychotherapy, as every person has unique needs, and therapy does not move at the same pace for everyone.
