This is a chance for you to tell your story and allows her to learn about you so she can create the best treatment plan for you. This portion of counseling typically extends into the second or third session as well.

After the informed consent and information gathering period, you will begin the serious work of therapy, in which you will focus on the goals you established during the first few sessions. There is no set number of sessions for psychotherapy, as every person has unique needs, and therapy does not move at the same pace for everyone.
